Faba Beans

One of the largest pulse crops grown in South Australia, Faba Beans are in strong demand for human consumption, either as whole or split beans. They have long been an essential part of diet throughout the world, from China and the Middle East to Asia and Latin America.

Centre State’s exports are predominantly to the Middle East, with Egypt being a particularly strong market. Shipping is both in bulk and by container. Some beans are also supplied to the domestic market for stock feed.

Purchases are made on forward or cash contracts in accord with our terms and conditions, and keeping paperwork concise and understandable is one of the ways that makes Centre State easy to deal with.

A seasoned operator in the Pulse industry, Centre State Exports is an active supporter of the development of Pulse varieties and the advancement of the industry in general. We are active & financial members of Pulse Australia and Pulse South Australia and are regularly involved in grower forums and the development of Pulse standards and markets.

Testimonial from a long-term satisfied grower

Andrew Bruce, Riverton

We believe that beans are a good break crop in our country but marketing beans over the years has been a challenge, particularly given the tight quality requirements for export markets. Having Centre State work with us gives us confidence that we are not on our own when trying to overcome some of these challenges.

Faba Beans

Native to North Africa and South West Asia, Faba Beans are now grown throughout the world. France and the United Kingdom – like Australia – are major exporters of Faba Beans. The Faba Bean figures large in history and folklore ,reportedly being used to cast votes in ancient Greece and Rome, having saved the Sicilians from starvation when all other crops failed, and – perhaps most significantly – given Jack a leg-up to the clouds and the land of Giants.
